Weekly Interview #6 - Hercules Gomez and Davy Arnaud

Hercules was the player selected in the fan voting. I started off asking Hercules about the last game. The conversation drifted to his roommate Abe, BBQ and what he wants to bring to Kansas City in his time here.

Of course I had to ask Davy about the last game and the Goal of the Week. Ended up talking about his competitiveness, Sasha, playing mid, the Toronto game, Chivas having a lot of Wizards players (thanks for the list Mike) and the lineup change as well.

Kansas City Wizards practice 09-18-2008

I got to CAB about halfway through practice today. The starters were practicing together and everyone else was playing a small side game.

The first thing that really caught my eye was a drill that wrapped up right after I got there. They were practicing whipping passes into the box and redirecting the shots. I can not testify how planned the Josh Wolff goal was in the LA game but I have seen the team practice that exact play and it looks like they were working on that again. Next they moved to setpieces. Hercules was taking the kicks and there were some awesome balls played in. He missed some, but some of those balls curved in as well as I have seen anyone. Here are a few photos of Hercules shots...

And just under the bar...
At the top of the curve...
And almost saved...

After practice I had a chance to talk to Davy Arnaud and Kevin Souter. Yesterday I talked to Hercules as the winner of the fan vote. I will have those up in a little while.
Bonus photo - the two tryout players took crosses and shots for quite awhile after everyone else left.
Update - I forgot to mention, the lineup for this weekend appears to be the same as last week.

Interview Poll #6

Mike of Down The Byline and I are continuing the weekly interview poll. We will setup interviews with a player of your choice (if possible). We have selected players that we think you may want to hear interviewed. The selection was based upon their performance in the last game, other newsworthiness and the probability that I can get them to stop for a few minutes to talk. Cast your vote and leave a comment with a question you would like to ask the player. We will of course ask additional questions as time permits. Go to the poll on the side of this blog and vote for who you want interviewed. You can also vote at Down The Byline and both votes count. One of the few times you can vote more than once. Leave questions in the comments to this post and at the post on Down The Byline. Let us know if it is a player specific question or a general question to any player. Be reasonably polite. This week the players are:

Kevin Hartman - Shutout agianst former team
Davy Arnaud - Goal of the week candidate ?
Josh Wolff - Slick game winning goal
Hercules Gomez - Assist and very nice play
Kevin Souter - Cinderella story gets in first game
