Okay, two of the best teams in North America playing at Arrowhead. Should be fun.
Press Release: Soccer United Marketing (SUM), Saral, the Kansas City Wizards (Major League Soccer) and the Kansas City Chiefs (NFL), today announced that Mexico’s most popular teams, Club América and Club Deportivo Guadalajara S.A. de C.V. (Chivas), will add a new chapter to their storied rivalry when the clubs meet for another edition of Mexico’s “Clásico Nacional,” or national derby, on Wednesday, September 16 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri at 8:30 p.m. CT. The game, which will celebrate Mexican Independence Day, will be presented by Bud Light.
Claudio Lopez played for Club America prior to coming to Kansas City so I may have to root for them. Don't think I can cheer for Chivas, but at least they are the original and not the lite version from LA.
On a related note:
I was hearing rumors since before the season started about the Wizards working to bring in a team to play in a friendly. I talked with Wizards VP Greg Cotton and he confirmed that the team has had conversations with quite a few teams. One of the more interesting ones was that there were some serious talks with Everton. Apparently Kansas City was working with them before MLS was. The league ended up signing Everton to be the opponent for the MLS All Star game this year. Too bad, would have been fun to see them play at CAB.
