Mall demo 02-03-2009

I got to go out to the demolition site formerly known as Bannister Mall today. I contacted David Ficklin this morning and he arranged it so I could go and see how lovely the mall is inside.

The last time (posts: here and here) I was up close at the mall was on Jan 21st for the City Council to show off the outwardly visible signs of demolition starting. I drove by this weekend and did not see much progress from the highway. Well I was wrong; they have made progress all right. On the 21st they knocked down most of the north wall of the old Jones Store and started on the steel beams. Today most of the walls are gone from the Jones store and all that is left in most places is the girders and the floor.
