Aaron Hohlbein interview 06-17-2009

Aaron was the other winner of the fan choice vote. I caught him after practice Wednesday.

Herculez Gomez interview - 06/17/2009

Herculez was in the top two vote totals of the fan poll. The other was Aaron Hohlbein and I will have the interview with him posted later today.

The audio on this is a little quiet part of the time. I am still experimenting with how to best create these.

Wizards practice 06/17/2009

You know Davy Arnaud is not a stuck up star when you see him carrying the goal for other players to use...

Of course on the other side is World Cup veteran Claudio Lopez...

Davy and Claudio sat out parts of practice to rest and heal nagging injuries. They both participated in some activities and rested during others.

Jimmy on the other hand was practicing and scrimmaging until he tweaked a hamstring. Hopefully not too serious...

Goalies ran some agility and reaction drills. Boris Pardo showing he can jump...

Eric Kronberg seems to be back to full practice...

Shot a few video clips of the keepers and some of the drills they did. Not sure what they called the drills so I gave them my own name.

Speaking of returning from injuries, Adam Cristman is running and doing various drills to get his touch back. Chance Myers is fully practicing and scrimmaging with the team since last week. I've seen a few small sided games with Chance in them lately and he has looked really good. Good touch, good decisions and moving well. Chance setup a couple nice goals in the scrimmage today. He is not game ready yet but I would not be surprised to see him in some games soon...

Josh Wolff and Michael Harrington have both looked good in practice lately. I have always liked Harrington at left midfield and even though he always says he is happy wherever he is playing, I think he looks comfortable on the left. Here Josh takes a shot in a drill...

MLSnet.com writer Bob Rusert practicing for the next media game?

Usually on Wednesdays the team does a full field srimmage but with a Sunday game they adjusted the schedule. In the small side games the teams were very mixed up between first and second team players. They will likely play the full field game tomorrow and we will be able to get a better idea of the probable lineup for the Atlas game.

The Cauldron - 6/13/2009

I played with some photos and a short video.

Let me know what you think...

Kansas City Wizards 3 -1 New England Revolution

Davy Arnaud scoring the first goal...

Davy picking himself up and starting to celebrate...

Davy running to hug his team mates...

The team celebrates while the Cauldron celebrates in the background...

Claudio Lopez pulls down Emmanuel Osei...

Lopez letting Osei know he was not pleased with being kicked...

Osei gets up and shoves Claudio as well...

Earning himself a red card...

Wolff battling with Alston. Wolff had a good game despite having no goals...

Herculez Gomez shooting...

Reis makes the save but it deflects onto Jeff Larentowicz's foot who unintentionally toe pokes into the goal...

Gomez thinks he has a goal while Larentowicz knows he did it...

Off of a corner kick, Reis made a nice save on a Wolff header. Jimmy Conrad manages to get his famous noggin on to the rebound and sends it across the box...

Aaron Hohlbein takes advantage and sends it homes...

Aaron, Herculez and Davy celebrating the third goal...

Matt Reis did not have a fun night...

Will do a post on the Cauldron as well...

2009 interview poll - Week 12

Who should we interview this week? With 3 goals and good performances it was hard to narrow down to only 3 or 4 choices this week.

Davy Arnaud - goal of the week candidate
Herculez Gomez - strong game, helped create 2 goals
Aaron Hohlbein - 2nd goal of the season
Jack Jewsbury - Strong midfield performance
Josh Wolff - Created chances and space, very good performance

It was a team effort...

Remember to go vote at Down the Byline as well, both votes count.
