Wizards new stadium plan - part 2

I found out a couple more things about the new stadium plan. Please remember these are things I found out in conversation so I do not have documentation for most of these updates. Of course, plans may change so any facts now may be different when it comes to the final product.

The plan is for the roof to be clear and "glow" at night. I do not know what material it is.

There is parking underneath the plaza area. I think it will be for ticket holders of a certain level of ticket. I heard 500 spots is the estimate.

The building on the west side (I think) is a small (90 roooms) hotel with state of the art meeting facilities. Think it might be a great place for visiting Cerner employees to stay.

There is a youth soccer complex not too far away (to the west I believe). There will be 24 fields compared to the 12 that would have been at Three Trails. Looked like there may have been baseball/softball fields as well.

The Cerner jobs that will be created there are new jobs. Not the ones promised to the Kansas City location. Those will still be created.

Saw some more cool and interesting things today but they will have to wait for another post...

Wizards new stadium plan

Well it seems the Three Trail Project is either dead or very close. Kansas City Kansas is quickly moving to make the Wizards Stadium a reality out at the Legends at Village West. An open space in between Nebraska Furniture Mart and the Kansas Speedway is being targeted to build the Wizards new home. It is very close to Community America Ballpark where the Wizards have been playing since last season.

Here is the rendering of the new stadium plan.

I am hearing that there will be a "Cauldron Club" area where members will be able to get food and drink and there will also still be a Pub. The Pub is where you will be able to catch any soccer game on TV.

Update: I am not sure of the details so I wanted to clarify. There will be somewhere that all the games on will be on TV. Exactly how that is laid out is uncertain (at least to me). I did not get chance to ask questions when I heard these details and do not want to mislead anyone.

09/09/09 - Games today

Wizards at DC United on Metro Sports - The Wizards need to win (or at least tie) to maintain their slim playoff hopes. Kansas City is 9 points back from DC but they have two games in hand so a win would pull the Wizards into striking distance.

USA vs. Trinidad & Tobago on ESPN Classic - The US Men should win but they need to make sure they do tonight.

Watch Parties - both 810 Zones are hosting watch parties where you can see both the US and the Wizards play. No Fox and Hound tonight after last Saturdays problems with them. Apparently they committed to hosting a watch party and when fans showed up they told them no. I had a similar problem with them a few years ago and was just starting to trust them again. To bad the "English Pub" couldn't be bothered to show soccer matches, especially games as important as the US qualifier. They need to decide if they want to be the Soccer pub or just another sports bar. They will need to find a way to make it up to the fans who traveled from around the city or they will be unlikely to get them back.

Park hosts William Jewell
- After upsetting No. 6 ranked Lindsey Wilson College on Labor Day, 3-0, No.19 Park University will look to keep the winning alive as they take on William Jewell College at Julian Field at 7:00 p.m.

Jewell is 3-0 and Park 2-0. Both are skilled, well coached teams. If you want to catch good live soccer, go watch this game and record the Wizards and US team.

Wolff voted player of the week

Josh Wolff was voted Player of the Week for the 3rd time this season. Josh scored twice and created the opportunities that led to the first two goals in the Wizards 4-2 win over New England.

Here is video of the Wizards goals.

Josh is a self admitting streaky player. When he gets hot he can be dangerous for several games. Let's see what he can do tonight at DC United.
