MISL news - Philly and Monterrey out, Chicago in

According to sources that wish to remain anonymous, the Philadelphia Kixx will not be playing this year after all. The Monterrey La Raza has also suspended operations this year, reportedly because of the terrific hurricane damage the city suffered recently.

The Rockford Rampage has also ceased but it has been replaced by a team in Chicago that has at least some of the same players as Rockford. Not sure how much it will be the same team or not.

Active MISL Teams:

Missouri Comets - new this year
Omaha Vipers - new this year
Baltimore Blast
Milwaukee Wave
Chicago XXXX - (formerly Rockford Rampage? Or somehow related?)

Non-Active MISL teams:
Monterrey La Raza
Philadelphia Kixx

MISL will again go with 5 teams. There will be 2 new, 2 established and 1 part old/part new team. While it is obvious that still only having a 5 team league is not optimal, they are making the best of it at the moment. I have also heard there is commitment for at least a couple additional teams next year.

Comets and Nike

The Comets announced they have entered into an agreement with Nike to become the Official Apparel and Equipment Supplier.

“Nike has a long history of excellence in the sport of soccer, and our affiliation with the Nike Swoosh will only enhance the overall image of our team,” said head coach, Kim Roentved. “Nike’s support speaks volumes about the value they see in our team and the value that they place on soccer in Kansas City.”

Now we need to see what the uniforms will look like...

Think Pink (something good form the Seattle game)

Puma is the sponsor for WPS and has started "Project Pink". They will donate a $1 (up to $25,000) every time the #projectpink hash tag is used in a tweet. This just makes me want to post pink related photos and tweet them. So we all win!!

The Wizards and MLS were in the Pink Saturday night. Nielsen wore pink as has been seen in other posts and there were other ways the Wizards supported Breast Cancer Awareness.

Keller watching the pink ball go wide...

Even the coaches were in the Pink...

Chad Reynolds was challenged to dance for his birthday. Every second he danced earned money for charity... (I think he was out danced)

Even the TV guys wore the pink scarves. Dave really looks bummed at the loss...
