Missouri Comets 4 - 6 Omaha Vipers (photos and interviews)

The Comets fell to the Omaha Vipers despite their best defensive effort of the season. The Comets limited Omaha to just 3 goals (6 points) and had the better run of play for more of the game, they just could not find the back of the net.

Omaha jumped out to the a 4-0 lead on a couple defensive breakdowns in the first quarter. The Comets settled down after that. In the second quarter Vahid Assadpour pulled the team within 2 when he scored his 5th goal of the season off a header. Byron Alvarez was credited with the assist.

The Vipers increased their total to 6 when both Comets defenders went to the ball and left the middle open for Ryan Junge to shoot point-blank on Danny Waltman.

Assadpour came in as the sixth attacker and with that added offense the Leo Gibson was able to score off a pass from Lucas Rodriguez. There was not enough time or energy left for the Comets to notch the equalizer.

With Tiguinho and Geison Moura still injured, Leo Gibson playing in the back and Will John returning to his team in Europe the Comets offense was a little anemic. They managed a respectable 24 shots but many went wide, high or straight at the keeper. Adding to the Comets offensive woes was the flu that Jamar Beasley was suffering from, obviously wearing him down through the game.
